Verification of measuring instruments

Verification is a procedure performed by a competent verification laboratory or notified body to assess conformance of a measuring instrument to relevant requirements and to put a verification mark if requirements are met.

The purpose of verification is to protect interests of citizens and state from possible harm caused by incorrect measurements. Verification of measuring instruments is an obligation regulated by legal acts of Estonia and European Union. The Republic of Estonia has granted Metrosert the right to act as an authorized and notified body under the Metrology Act and the Product Conformity Attestation Act. On the basis of this, Metrosert performs domestic initial, subsequent verification and conformity assessment of measuring instruments.

The certificate issued by EAK establishes the scope of our accredited verification services.

 

The Technical Regulatory Authority has authorized Metrosert to act as a verification and notified body by document below: 

 

Verified measuring instruments

  • Measuring instruments for mass (scales)
  • Measuring instruments for quantities (volume) of liquid (fuel meters and dispensers and stationary capacity measures)
  • Water and heat meters
  • Measuring instruments for length (tape measures, level meters of tanks, measuring wheels)
  • Measuring instruments used in providing traffic services and in traffic supervision (taximeters, speed measurement instruments, exhaust analysers of cars, wheel and axle load scales)
  • Measuring instruments used in providing health care services (scales)
